Small-scale fishing and farming have much in common, including the risks and challenges faced in getting local food on our tables. By collaborating with two Cordova-based fisher friends to market their catch, we know exactly where our fish is coming from, how fresh it is, and that the fishers are paid fairly for their catch.
We believe that sustainable fishing practices are essential for the health of our oceans and our customers. The ways our fish are caught are rated as "best choice", certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, or "good alternative" on the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch.
We love the Fairbanks community and how much we support each other. We are passionate about local food access, particularly for those impacted by the Yukon River fishery crisis. Please reach out if you'd like to connect!
Jim has been fishing out of Cordova for 30+ years. He catches shrimp, salmon, rockfish, Pacific cod, and halibut throughout the fishing season. Jim and his wife Holly love Cordova and when not fishing, keep busy with their two sons Galushia and August. Jim is valued as an incredible musician and Holly as an artist within Cordova, and their talents are often put to work in local productions and events when they aren’t catching and preparing fish with their family.
Marc always loved the sea and became a fisherman after studying marine biology. He is particularly fond of strange deep sea creatures. This year, Marc is providing us with black cod, which is his favorite fish to eat. When not fishing, you can find Marc hiking, biking, swimming, and spending time with friends around Cordova and Anchorage.
